Fasketball!: A Senior Humor or Satire Art Project by Drew Russert (2014)

Basketball is too boring and everybody gets hurt in soccer, so why not try a new, more exciting sport? Try Fasketball! It is a sport invented by four people named Nick, Matt, Lambie, and Drew. All four are very popular across the world today for playing fasketball (well, Drew isn't that good but he is still famous). Fasketball is a combination of the two common sports basketball and soccer. The purpose of the game is to kick and assist others into getting the soccer ball into the basketball net. You don't need to play defense, however there are some international leagues that decide to play defense against each other. Some people had the guts to laugh at people who play fasketball because the sport is unusual and hard to play. Those people ended up with a soccer ball smacked across their face. Go out to a court to challenge Matt, Nick, Lambie, or Drew to game of fasketball, but be aware, they are probably better than you.

Nick, Matt, Lambie, Parker, and I invented the game fasketball during film breaks on Tuesdays and Fridays. It was a joke at first but we were actually having fun playing the game, and it was the only thing we would do during break. We decide to incorporate the game into our humor project so that we could play it more while raise awareness of the new Freestyle game.

For my design piece, I created an advertisement poster, in Photoshop, that you would find in a magazine. It advertises fasketball and tells the viewer what it is: foot-basketball. My model is Matt Shearer who tried to kick the ball into the net while posing in a karate kick position. Using my photoshop skills, I was able to transform the background into a yellow color and isolate Matt and the basketball net to keep those two items in their original colors. I also used the clone tool repeat the soccer ball across the page to make it look like a time lapse. This was a very entertaining project and I love the fact that we were able to transform a game we made up into a phenomenon at Freestyle.
