But first, a bit about me . . .

As a child, I loved trains. Now I love music. I like to listen to it. I also like to play it. I am not a big fan of school. Academics don't interest me much. I don't plan on becoming a mathematician, or a biologist, or a historian. I'll leave that to someone who has a passion for it. I'd honestly like to be more hands on. I'd love to run a marathon for AIDS patients, or help pass out food to starving children in a third world country. I like to look at the big picture. Sometimes I look so much at the big picture that my ideas can only stay ideas because they get so outrageous. I love to relax. Too much structure can actually make me really stressed. I am very spontaneous, and don't really like things to be planned out ahead of time.

The Ace of Spades

My self portrait is a representation of how much I have challenged myself this year at Freestyle. I've stopped trying to compete with others, and now I am always trying to oudo my previous work. In this photograph, the only things that are in color and in focus are the deck of cards and me. I wanted to show that that is the only thing I am focused on. My facial expressions are also interesting in the photograph. OPne of me looks worried and puzzled while the other has a smirk on his face. This is because never at one time am I completely on top of everything. I can be doing well in one area, but totally failing in another. This seems to be a pattern, and if I am competing against myself, part of me will always win, and the other part will always lose. I hope that after seeing this, the viewer can understand more about how Freestyle can make you become more independent, and make you challenge yourself more than challenge others.
