Each project that we've done has been unique in it's own way, such as poetry, documentaries, and much more. I am very excited for the units to come! Our Self-Portrait website was based off of the first project we had ever completed in freestyle. The purpose of this segment was to help us understand ourselves better and reveal more about our personalities to the audience. Being as this was my first time doing anything technologically advanced, I was a little thrown off by the HTML coding process as well as ProTools and some other audio editing software that we used. However, as the quarter went on, I found myself enjoying the final outcome of my website and all that it included.

Our Narrative 1 website followed a fictional yet potentially real story that we had created in the second quarter of the school year. This story had to follow a realistic storyline, but it could be made about anyone with any personality in any scenario. This was by far one of my most favorite projects as I’ve always loved creating my own stories and adding an immense amount of imagery and emotion into every scene. To summarize my entire student, I focused on a rather ignorant character, oblivious to the dangers of the world, who gets sucked into a terrible situation due to this lack of knowledge. I really felt this segment helped me grow as a writer because I believe that one of the most important things an artist can accomplish is being able to have the reader imagine your scenes in real life. Also, it helped me discover how much I enjoyed animation and I am extremely excited for future animation assignments to come.

Our Narrative 1 assignment was followed up shortly after by our Documentary project that took place in the third quarter of junior year.The documentary website consisted of many interviews, slideshows, and material specific to the area/place/person you were doing it on. This was by far the most difficult assignment for me as there were so many due dates for so many interviews, photo shoots, and paragraphs for our essay. The most unfortunate part is how few of people were willing to be interviewed by me for my project. The documentary definitely prepared me in ways far more than academics such as time management, personal connections and social expectations.

We ended our junior year of Freestyle with the conceptual project. For the conceptual project, we picked two random pieces of paper from a bag that contained a feeling and a scenario. Once we acquired our pieces, we based our entire website off of this through an animation, three different types of poems and a little extra content that can be discovered on the actual website! Alike the documentary project, this assignment improved me in more ways than just academics. Later in life, our jobs will hand us assignments to complete that we are completely unprepared for, and this whole quarter trained us for this future scenario.

We are starting our Senior year of freestyle with our first project called the Profile Project! In this assignment, we are asked to do an entire life story of someone whom we think others would find interesting. This involves interviewing the subject, some of his or her friends and even their higher priority figures such as their boss. Once we have our main profile person and our interviews set up, we were asked to take a particular angle on this person as far as what we perceive them as. I feel that this project will ultimately enhance our social skills and push us to become better listeners as a whole.

For our Narrative 2 project, we combined hard work across all of our classes to help create many different components to the project. In design, we created surreal art, which was very new for me, and somewhat of a challenge. We also created a book jacket, which took extensive work using all the design principles. In English, we continued to experiment with things we hadn’t done before. We wrote a screenplay, and a short story. Writing a screenplay was something we hadn’t done before, and was very out of my comfort zone, which in the end helped me a lot. In Web, we continued to try new things that we hadn’t done before. We used After Effects to create an animation, a program we had never used before, that is typically used in film. We also used PHP and XML when creating our websites, for the first time.

For our Innovator project, we will be allowed to choose any topic we want and do an entire website about it whether it be music production, lifting weights, how to be happy, etc. I still am not sure what I want to do for this project, so I will edit this page when I do figure out my topic.
