Foggy Thoughts: A Junior Self-Portrait Illustration by Jacqueline Portelli (2011)

The purpose of my illustration was to show my most dominant character trait. This trait is how I look for the best in everyone. In my illustration I showed the pros and cons of this trait. I showed this by drawing a small puppy in dark setting with items that connote abuse such as smog and chains. I drew items around the puppy with dark and dull colors to make the viewer feel uncomfortable and cold. The puppy is drawn with a bright color and a happy look on her face to show how the puppy thinks it is in a good environment because she always looks for the best in things. To show how this trait can be good, I drew a thought bubble coming from the puppy. I drew bright colors in the thought bubbles and someones living room with a dog house on the floor with toys next to it. I drew the thought bubble with warm colors to give the illustration a warm and cozy feel to contradict the cold and harsh feel of the environment the puppy is in.
