Medicated Hopelessness: A Junior Narrative Diptych by Rebecca Walton (2012)

My narrative diptych is meant to portray the internal and external conflict of my character's situation. The external conflict is the initial mistake of forgetting to take her ADD medicine. The ironic part is that this is due to the ADD itself. Once she forgets to take her medicine, she begins to doubt herself. She feels hopeless and unable to achieve anything without her medication; it's like her protection. I portrayed this by showing a girl who is unwilling to walk, because she'd rather use her full-proof way of commuting, her car. She doubts her abilities and therefore puts in no effort due to her hopelessness.
