Through the eyes of Hope: A Junior Self-Portrait Illustration by Hope Moseley (2012)

This illustration shows an eyeball surrounded by different colored glitter. The eyeball represents how I see things in life. When I saw this image on the web, I felt a personal connection to it. The things I see in life reflect what I say and how I speak my mind. The glitter represents appearance. I always wonder what people think of me on the outside and how my appearance looks. Appearance to me is glamour, glitter.

This photo is taken from the internet and traced and detailed in Adobe Illustrator. I had to draw each piece of glitter by hand which took a very long time, longer than expected. Repetition is used through the glitter, circles repeating and the colors repeating. I selected a different color for each piece of glitter in order for the glitter to show harmony yet have variety throughout the photo. There is a contrast of color around the eye, light to dark, to make the eye have dimension. A technical risk I took was doing such an intricate picture. I put a lot of time and effort into this picture to cover all of the little details in order for the picture to appear how I wanted. This illustration has definitely taught me how to use Adobe Illustrator well.
