Slow Processing: A Junior Self-Portrait Illustration by Jacob Behar (2012)

Slow Processing Leads to Abandonment - For my illustration, I chose to portray the internal challenge of slow processing and how it leads to abandonment. To show this, I have a stack of books, on top of which is a white book. This signifies that its contents are unknown to me because I have not read it yet. Originally, I wanted to have a few stacks of books around a room with one book open on a desk. This vision changed when I realized it was taking way too long to finish the single stack of books I had chosen. To compensate, I filled in each book and traced the lines of the covers.

To make this illustration, I first found a picture on the internet of a stack of books. I traced each book on a different layer using the line and pen tool. Then, I went back and filled in each book with a different color. When that was done, I traced the covers each on a brand new layer. This was a stressful process because it was time consuming and I did not come close to creating the image I had originally envisioned for lack of time. Once I had filled in the books, I realized that it would look good the way it was. In the end, I am happy with how it turned out.
