Risk Wisely: A Junior Self-Portrait Illustration by Christopher Lanman (2012)

I enjoy taking risks although risk taking can be a costly trait. Although on the one hand I am a risk taker, on the other I am diligent in preparing myself to succeed. I work hard in anticipation of challenges both physical and mental, and this fortunate trait helps me stay out of trouble. These traits are the oil and vinegar of my life, and although they do not mix together easily, their combination defines me. My life often consists of pushing things to the limit, but I always think and prepare before I do something. It's who I am. I come prepared but at the same time willing, if not eager, to take risks.

The strongest way that I could symbolically show these traits was by making something powerful and original. In order to do this I had to use many different tools in illustrator to perfect my illustration. First I had to discover how to properly use the layers tool, in order to properly manage my illustration. Then, I had to use the pen tool over and over to trace every image that I would use for my final illustration. I also, incorporated some of the key elements of design that you can see in my image: focus, color, texture and shape. After several attempts I can now say that I have become very familiar with Illustrator, and I look forward to seeing my progress with the Adobe Illustrator program.
