Flowered Skulls: A Junior Experimental Project by Paige Eller (2013)

My experimental artwork, ‘Flowered Skulls’ portrays my belief that things are as beautiful as you make them. Instead of creating the creepy side that many identify skulls with, I decided to show how all things have the potential to be beautiful. My choice of fabrics and colors bring the skulls to life and give them a positive energy.

I hand drew these skulls in Adobe Illustrator, keeping the intricate details all in black. This way the face of the skull could have unique backgrounds of fabrics that I had hand chosen. I scanned the fabrics into photoshop and continued to work in Adobe Photoshop to create the final piece. To make the skulls really stand out, I stuck with a plain black background.
