Deep Sea Love: A Senior Comic Strip by Jessica Vergara (2013)

The narrative behind my comic strip is about this girl named Ellie and she hasn't experienced love. Her best friend, Flynn, is secretly in love with her and decides to finally take her out on a date. Ellie has no idea Flynn likes her because she's self contained, but once they share a kiss Ellie realizes how much she likes Flynn but Flynn doesn't share that same spark.

We created a clay character and I decided to create a whale because whales are awesome. I was inspired by the whale I once danced with when I was in the Philippines. He was dark, friendly, and such a great dancer. I always thought dancers were romantics so I went for a love story. I created Flynn first because I found his character the most interesting and the backbone of Ellie.
