Clarity in Movement: A Senior Surreal Photo by Matthew Iverson (2013)

When a person is stuck on a problem, what should he or she do? Continuing to focus on the problem with the same approach is not one of the answers. One should move around and approach the problem from a different angle and gain a new perspective. Complacency is the laziness that holds back problem solving, while movement pushes problem solving forward. The use of HDR photos in my composition helps establish clarity by bringing out the extreme color and detail of the photos. The ripples, like ones you would see in water, bring the composition to life by giving it movement. Outside of the ripple zone, I applied an effect called oil paint, that makes parts of the composition unclear and hazy looking.
