Goddess of Cranes: A Senior Surreal Photo by Nathan Becker (2013)

I took a High Dynamic Range (HDR) photo of an old statue in my backyard. HDR photography compiles three identical photos. One is underexposed, one is exposed correctly, and one is overexposed. This allows for a more textured image that more accurately depicts the actual scene. I thought this would bring the statue to life. I also decided to color the final images of the statues with a cool hue. This almost made them look like two moons in outer space. I then placed a dark, bokeh texture behind the faces and colored it the same way. Finally, I took a picture of an East African Crowned Crane, grouped them in threes, and placed them at the bottom of the image. I gave them a blue tint to match the rest of the piece.
