Innocent Troublemaker: A Junior Self-Portrait Illustration by Richa Gopal (2013)

My oxymoron is ''innocent troublemaker'' I thought of something that was clearly innocent visually. So I used a pink teacup set on concrete. I chose to put it on concrete so then there wouldn’t be any distractions in the background. And for the other half of the picture. I used a deck of cards scattered and handcuffs over a joker card. I had Made everything but the joker face black and white to emphasize the Joker. Without it people would just see cards and handcuffs and think of something else. I wanted to emphasize the joker because its mainly innocence versus troublemaker, which joker is. I felt they went together well because visually you would see tea sets in a little girls room. And cards and handcuffs as you get older, like running into trouble. Visually i was trying to show the obvious difference between being young and being a teen.

It connects to my paragraph of ''how did I become the person I am today.'' Its mainly represents innocence and then growing up and hitting new obstacles. It seems like everything is a game, and that there is strategy needed to make it in this world, which is why I used playing cards. And for the handcuffs, I used them to represent trouble.
