Unknown Reasoning: A Junior Conceptual Project by Jodi DeMassa (2014)

We were required to combine fine arts and digital media to express our artist statement. I chose to explore the feeling of sympathy from parental conflict. I used Illustrator to draw hands touching in a thought bubble to represent how sympathy just touches on the feeling, but it doesn't exactly grasp the feeling. The a brain on the left represents cognitive reasoning. I wanted to have a painting of a desk as my fine art to make my conceptual art more realistic. I designed it by using four layers of acrylic paint.

Creating my wooden texture was harder for me than drawing in Illustrator. It took awhile to blend the colors together and create the perfect texture that I wanted. I had done most of my Illustrator drawing at home for the digital requirement. I also struggled to draw the book in a realistic style.
