Kale: A Senior Narrative Book Jacket by Elizabeth Halliday (2014)

In English, I wrote a screenplay about two young girls. Kale has just moved to this conservative town, where she meets Chrysanthemum, the troublemaker of the town. They befriend each other, and Chrysanthemum convinces Kale to get a tattoo. That is where I gained my inspiration for the book cover. I took a picture of an old truck, just like Chrysanthemum has in our movie, and traced it in Illustrator. I then used different brushes and opacities to create a rustic look. I contrasted the red truck with a green background, which is also a nice representation of the color of kale. I wanted it to be a simple front, with the pop of a truck to interest the reader.
