Suit and Boot: A Senior Narrative Book Jacket by Justin Walker (2014)

For my book jacket I based the design off of the narrative I crafted in my English class. My story was about a suit who learns a lesson in humility when confronted by an opposing boot. Therefore I tilted the book ''Suit and Boot'' and made the design aimed towards children. Due to it beings a kids book I had to go with vibrant and childish colors such as red and blue. To further enforce this theme I added in low opacity crumpled up paper to make it look more appealing to younger audiences.

I accomplished these tasks by using Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and sketch paper. I first sketched out all of my characters onto a piece of paper and then scanned it onto my computer. Once I had the scans on my computer I placed them onto an artboard in Illustrator where I carefully traced over my sketch with the pen tool. I then proceeded to fill in my traces with colors that would go with my theme. I also had to add in a author's portrait that would go on the inside cover of the book jacket. For this we used fancy studio lighting and utilized different types of lighting arrangements in order to get a professional picture. This professional picture was then edited in Photoshop to make myself look even more handsome.
