The Intervention: A Senior Narrative Book Jacket by Matthew Shearer (2014)

For my book jacket I made a cover for a story about a man who is socially awkward and obsessed with his phone. I therefore used a lot of focus on the phone for the book cover. It is also an interesting shape to use. I wanted it to be fairly simple as far as the design went because it is not a complicated story. I used blue as the dominant color because the conflict is resolved in the end and the character finds his way. The blue gradient is used to give it a calm tone.

I created this book jacket using mainly Adobe Illustrator. I added in the blue gradient as a background. I then placed the phones as a pattern under the text. I used Photoshop for the author portrait in the corner and cutting out the phone for a template.
