Final Bloom: A Senior Amplified Art Project by Thomas Wilson (2015)

My piece is a combination between several pieces we have already done inside of class. This includes a zen tangle, a mandala, a word that has been drawn similar to a zen tangle, and a photo I took previously of a bed of flowers. The photo was taken in hdr so as to give it a unclear, almost blurred look. In contrast, my zen tangle had been colored in and covered except for certain parts that are bled into using the smudge tool. The parts that are shown are the most crisp and clear parts of my zen tangle and contrast to the blurred quality of the flowers. The quotes in the photo are from a quick write we did and talks about the different forms of desire.

As my last project at freestyle, I felt like having fun with this piece and focusing on having an interesting time making it. Using hdr for my photo was always something I wasn't always comfortable with but it worked out well this time. Coloring in the zen tangle also changed its effect on the viewer compared to its black and white form and the crispness and geometric attributes of the shown parts is something that was not easy to make.
