Joel Romo Gonzalez: A Senior Profile Portrait by Rose Lama (2015)

My profile person is Joel Romo Gonzalez, a Counselor working at Mountain View High School. He not only does counseling but he supervises a study skill class. All the other counselors as well as teachers look up to him even when he is new to the school, because he is young, smart and responsible. For most of the teachers and the counselors, he is one way to connect to most of the students in the school. Him being responsible of a lot of students in counseling and classes; he barely has time for himself. But he smiles all the stress away as he has to go through the same schedule everyday. He planned to major in arts but he changed his whole career by majoring in social work. He believes that life has many doors and you have the key to open it all.

Some struggles I had was time management. It was difficult to find the right time to shoot his pictures, because the time we were scheduled to take pictures, he was working. The lighting was off in the office so we had to move chairs and close curtains in certain angles. He didn't had time to take pictures so he had to multitask. It was hard to find a right position to take pictures of him. In the end I made three appointments with him to take pictures. One in his counseling office, and others in his classes. I successfully took the pictures with correct lighting. I was also successful on taking pictures that I was able to use in all my profile project.
