Buried under snow
The fox dug even deeper
Chasing its tail
''Chasing its tail'' signifies playfulness and routine. When a fox chases its tail it goes in a circle. The game is to catch its tail. Since every time the fox goes for the tail the tail moves out of the way it makes the game never end. This consumes the fox. Even though the fox is trapped ''under snow'' it doesn’t want to try to go to the surface because it is obsessed with catching its own tail. This is what I was trying to get at in my art. The idea that people do the same act to entertain themselves even though they will never be satisfied. People do things over and over again, like re-watching a tv show, just to get that feeling again and will be complacent in doing the same thing over and over again.

In my photograph I try to signify playfulness and its cycles several different ways. The game controller is to symbolize playing. You use the game controller to play a game, it is the way you communicate with the game. Using a controller is the act of playing, like chasing a tail is an act of playing. The controller is sandwiched between two mirrors, this was kind of difficult because the controller kept sliding and it was a long exposure. The two mirrors make the controller appear in the picture multiple times. This shows cycles. The mirror is also angled so that the controller starts to curve in a circle. This also show the cycles and is more closely related to how a fox runs in a circle to chase its tail. The colors have been tweaked to make it more lively and the dark shadows are used to show the dark side of doing something over and over again. The title of the piece is ''Mirrored Playfulness''.
