Transport: A Junior Conceptual Transport Project by Evelyn Potter (2017)

The object I chose was a longboard, which I chose to place on it’s side against a mirror laying on the grass. I chose an off-centered angle which cropped out half of the longboard so that I could incorporate the mirror reflection and focus on the wheels of the board. The photo was taken outside in direct sunlight, and the background is mainly the mirror the board is laying on, but there is also a small portion of grass in the background as well. I made these decisions so that I could have a bright and clear photo with a minimal background so that you would be able to focus on the wheels of the longboard. I also enjoyed the look of the mirror aspect, where part of the board was being reflected against the mirror set up against it. I chose a longboard because I thought the design and colors under the board would catch your eye and add more of an interesting aspect to the picture.

While editing my photograph in photoshop, I learned about how to make selections and change the colors of certain portions of the picture so that it would look more pleasing to the eye. In photoshop, I made selections of the grass and part of the tree which is reflected in the mirror to have more of a yellow tone so that it would match the color of the board more. Also, I made selections of the wheels, the sky, and the truck of the longboard to color correct them so that the picture would look more pleasing and the colors would stand out more. From what I learned from photoshop and applied to my photograph, it enhanced my image and helped my final composition.
