Artist Statement:
Lifting Up
For my documentary project I decided to have my foucs be on a local bookstores in downtown Los Altos, Linden Tree. The question that I posed was: Why are local bookstores so important? in my illustration I portrayed the idea of ow much the people in cities keep their local bookstores going. THe people in the towns are what keep the bookstores alive successful. The people in the illustration are holding up the giant book symbolizing the people of the town keeping local bookstores alive and strong.
Article: This is the magazine article that I created for the Documentary Unit. To design my article I used the program Indesign. This was my first time using indesign this year so at first it was very challenging. In indesign I combined by research paper and photos for design to make a magazine article. My favorite part of creating the photobook was inserting the different pictures in the document. I was able to experiment on how big I wanted the pictures to be and how to angle them. Even though making the magazine article was challenging it was a fun thing to create. Feel free to look at my article below.
