Welcome to my Profile Project Website! For this project we were asked to chose a person to profile who has made a positive impact in the community. In English class we wrote a magazine article. In Design class we created a magazine article layout with the text we wrote in English class. In WebAudio we created a website and a commercial.

When reflecting back on this project, I think the most valuable skill I learned in all my classes was the importance of using the same design elements for every part of the project. By using the same design elements all of the individual parts of my project felt like they went well together.

Matt Hires has released over seven albums and EPs over the past seven years. He has continued to be a successful musician, and still able to provide financially for his family, despite being dropped from a recording contract with a major label. With over 23,000 followers on Facebook, “four different songs in four different episodes of Grey's Anatomy”, and a recent tour with Matchbox Twenty, Matt is no newcomer to the music industry. Matt has loved music since a young age. He grew up with Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young, as a result of his father’s love of music. At his parents urging he started learning bass at age 12, and from that began to learn guitar. Matt became a prolific songwriter, and began playing in various bands. At the same time, he also began putting up solo work on Myspace. A few weeks after putting the songs online, he was contacted by a manager for the newly formed F-Stop Music. For the next six years he would stay with F-Stop, until they parted ways in February of 2014.

Working on my commercial was a challenge. Although I had used AfterEffects before, I had so much to still learn. I learned more about how I could make my audio control visual effects through parenting objects, and how to use keyframes to help make my animations work. This part of the Profile Project was a challenge, but I enjoyed getting to learn so many new things.

My magazine article was a large and very rewarding project. I wrote the text in English class, based off of interviews I conducted, and off of research articles. I ended up interviewing 3 people, including Matt Hires himself. It was challenging to interview people without getting frazzled, but in the end I learned so much about how to conduct a sucessful interview. I designed the layout of the article in InDesign in Design class. I have loved getting to work on this project.

Although it took a long time to create a layout I was happy with, the end result was well worth my time and energy spent. My design of the magazine article is based off of the design I used to create this website. It has been both challenging and rewarding to be able to try and make my design the same for all my projects. I am so greatful for this oppertunity to learn more about InDesgin, and for the chance to improve my writing skills. The presentation was an interesting project because of the way we integrated English and Design together. My presentation was based off of the magazine article I wrote in English class. The design of the presentation is based off of the design of my magazine article that I created in Design. I tried to use the same color scheme and similar design elements for all the different parts of the Profile Project. The presentation was stressful, but it was a great learning opportunity.
