Welcome to my Documentary Project Website! This has been a very challenging and highly rewarding project. I focussed my project on the Makery, a local sewing and crafts store, and also on the topic of the devaluation of women's work. For English class I interviewed three individuals relevant to my topic, read research articles and eventually wrote my own research paper. In Design class we took that paper and using the program InDesign turned it into a real book! In Web Audio class we created an audio slideshow using the photos from our books and audio clips from our interviews. On the other pages of this website you can see the pages of my book, an audio slideshow and my research paper in its entirety. During this project I learned so much about researching a topic. I learned how to conduct an interview, find reliable internet sources, and how to create a works cited page.

The background music I created for this page is upbeat, just like the atmosphere at the Makery. Whenever I would stop by to take pictures or conduct interviews they would always have fun music playing in the store.

The design of my website involves many of the same design elements that my book used. The blue diamond shapes are supposed to look like seams going down the sides of my website to represent how communities are held together because of sewing.

This was a very challenging project, but I am so glad to have had the oppertunity to do it. I loved getting to learn more about our local community and the world at large through the lense of sewing.

Have fun looking at the rest of my website!
