Explorations

During this unit, we were asked the question:
“How can you find, explore, or expand your passion?”
for this project, all juniors at Freestyle were asked to explore a passion and improve upon or learn a particular skill set that addresses 21st Century Skills.

I worked on creating an animatic for my explorations project. I chose to make an animatic because I’ve always been interested in animation, but have never been good at drawing. I wanted to work at being creative in making a story and characters.

In order to create an animatic, I had to first learn what an animatic was and what it was used for. I learned that animatics are basically a moving storyboard, and are really useful for figuring out timing and pacing. Animatics are mostly only used for animations. Then I had to start creating a story and characters. I drew some pictures of the characters I wanted to use on paper first, and then on adobe illustrator. I wrote down the story I wanted to tell on notes on my phone and then started drawing pictures.  I drew between 30-40 in total, and even though the pictures weren’t detailed, it was still tedious. I realized I wouldn’t be able to create the whole story, so I drew the beginning. After I finished drawing, I put the images in Premiere, and added sound and changed the image lengths. It turned out to be around 40 seconds in total. My final product shows a story like I wanted it to. I think my story could actually make a really good short film.

My project is not uploaded to youtube yet, but as soon as it is, I will upload it.

We also created infographics about our explorations project.

During this project, I learned that some things take a lot of tedious work. I Think I am getting really good at Adobe Illustrator. I also learned how much I appreciate doing live action films. Even though I thought this project was really interesting, I think that I like creating live-action films better.

We also created experimental music during this unit. I wanted to create a piece that was just really weird.

My experimental music isn’t on SoundCloud yet, but as soon as it is, I will upload it here.

Here is my experimental presentation:
