For a side project, I decided to compile and color-correct a variety of images for my ios14 phone layout. I was inspired by pastel pinks, blues, and yellows, and by the art of the Renaissance and Rococo eras. It was fun to put my photo editing skills to use on a passion project, and it gave me a glimpse into a future where I could use what I’ve learned to create my own art or art for others.
Portion of Maria Luisa of Parma, Princesa de Asturias by Anton Raphael Mengs
My inspiration for my phone setup started with a love for Rococo fashion and art. Paintings like this are my some of my favorites: beautiful pastel colors, soft nature backgrounds, and intricate details and manage to add so much to the overall atmosphere of the piece. I lighted up the exposure and brought up the pinks a little to match my intended background and used it as the icon for my Messaging shortcut.
The Triumph of Venus by François Boucher
After taking a dive into Rococo fashion, I got a bit sidetracked with cherubim imagery and heaven motifs. With larger paintings like this one, I was able to zoom in on different parts and create 2-3 icons from 1 piece. However, the dark colors and deep oranges didn’t quite match up with what I was looking for, so I upper the exposure again to make the colors much more pastel. My favorite part of this image is the flowing striped scarf in the center. It creates such a feeling of relief and gaiety, the perfect centerpiece for this painting.
