Book Jacket:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Nowhere to Run synopsis: After Elijah is found guilty of second degree murder he must serve a sentence of 15 years. The victim’s mother has ended her bereavement and resorted to a plan of vengeance. While prison may be intimidating, the real danger begins once he is freed. How long will this maternal vow of bloodshed continue to haunt Elijah?<\/p>\n

Over time it has become clear that ensuring justice for all is an impossibility. With my narrative project I wanted to show people the negative results of segregation, particularly in America, and how it has erased innocence from certain communities without any repercussion. I attempted to shed new light on how crime has become institutional to the point that justice can never truly be served. While designing my book cover I wanted to express the dark and serious nature of the story. By using minimalist techniques I was able to convey the larger idea with a small amount of colors and objects. While creating my book jacket I took a lot of time to think about what themes that come up in the story and how I can implement them into the art work. Since my story revolves around the idea of injustice in today\u2019s society, I attempted to convey the broken and cracked system in which we live.\u00a0<\/span>

Zenith Movie Poster:<\/strong><\/p>\n

When creating a poster for my original movie idea I wanted to encapsulate some of the larger themes in subtle and innovative ways. The large symbol in the middle of the poster is a logo I made for a company that plays a large role in the movie. The company specializes in wiping\/altering memories. They have paired up with law enforcement to rewire the minds of criminals to the point that they can be put back into society and given a second chance.<\/p>\n

In one sense of the word, distill means to extract the essential meaning of something. This is exactly what our detective protagonist is trying to accomplish in the middle of a seemingly unsolvable\u00a0case. I attempted to represent the perspective of our main character through the design of the poster. From afar, the large logo is most noticeable with the background looking like a solid color or simple pattern. But as we take a closer look, much like our detective moving closer and closer to the end of his case, we begin to realize there is more than meets the eye. I intentionally made the design elements of my poster very simple and minimalist to reflect the ambiguous and mysterious nature of the film.<\/p>\n
