This is me (and Reina).

Hi there! My name is Milly (which you already know from my Project listing page), and you have just arrived at my Self Portrat Website. A few things about me: I love ice skating, the San Jose Sharks, and bagels. Those three things are essentials for my survival (along with the basics of water and shelter).

The design of this website has an underwater theme, because I have a moderately weird interest in fish. I hate eating them, but I love looking at them. Aquariums amaze me, because I find marine life delightful. The shark in the background was placed as a somewhat blatant metaphor for my love for the San Jose Sharks.

I created the music you hear on this page with an online tool http://www.aviary.com/ Audio Editor. An extremely handy website, Aviary helped me find music that fit my simple taste. I didn't want it to be too intrusive, so I aimed for a more laid back track.

I am who I am because of my Family and Friends. Although I want to try to avoid the cliche, I still have to say that my family has made me the strong and independent person that I am today. My friends have also influenced me to be who I am today. For lack of a better term, they're pretty great people.

At Freestyle, I am becoming a new person by learning how to combine artistic and technical skills. My Self-Portrait Diptych gives you even more insight into who I am and who I used to be. My Self-Portrait Illustration shows my greatest and weakest attributes. In my short life, I've learned some things that are true to my core and I have shared those with you on my Podcast page. One of my main life lessons is portrayed in my Narrative Essay. Given that it was one of my first writing assignments at Freestyle, there is still a lot of room to grow. My vision of the world is expressed in my Photogallery and in it I see the world like this - the world is made up of lots of interesting things, but people tend to miss them while going about their everyday life. After starting Freestyle, I've realized that I see things now, and instead of passing it by, I often think "wow, that would be a really cool picture."

In about 9 weeks this year, it's amazing how much I have learned to create all that you will see on this Self-Portrait website. I didn't know much when I started in August, but now I know the basics of Garageband, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Dreamweaver. Now I know how to, just to list a few things, use the Pen Tool, optimize an image for the web, mix music loops on multi-tracks, properly set a disjoint rollover, manipulate CSS to format the look of my webpages, utilize Smart Objects, and use Live Paint Tools. There's much more that I haven't listed but now that I think back to the start, I feel extremely accomplished as to what I have learned.

Finally, I am very proud of this Self-Portrait Website because it's the first website I have ever made. I hope you enjoy it!
