This quarter at Freestyle the unit we focused on was a narrative unit. We created short stories, photos, illustrations, and animations to tell our own stories that we wrote.
English: we read and analyzed stories. We also wrote multiply short stories of our own. Dialogue and symbol stories are just two of the many ones we wrote. But in the end we had to choose one ofour stories to make our final short story. Our stories had to be symbolic and have a deeper meaning and open to interpertation.
Design: we had two projects this quarter. One was our Photo Narrative and the other was our Narrative Illustration. For our Photo Narrative we had to think of an abstract concept or feeling to depict realisticly. Besides having to be symbolic, our only other requirement for this project was that the story had to be told within six photos. Our Narrative Illustration also had to have a deeper meaning and not be realistic.
Web/Audio: our main focus was our Animation. We used Adobe Flash to create the animation and animatic. First we made our animatic. After making the animatic we started to create the drawings/animations for our final animaion. Creating a flash animation takes a long time, that is why my animation is not up on my website yet. But it will be soon, sometime in January.
We also created our second website for our narrative unit. This is our other major project in Web/Audio. The design for my narrative website is based on old movies. I have always loved old movies like Casablanca, Breakfast at Tiffany's, and American in Paris. The projector at the bottom of the webpage is the main image and I feel it adds a very classic feeling to the site. My buttons along the side are reels of film that unroll when you rollover it with your mouse. And the plain brownish colors also remind me old movies. I hope that it will also make the color in my photos, illustration, and animation stand out more. A lot of work goes into making a website. and a lot of stress comes along with it too. Expecially with all the other projects going on at the same time. But in the end it is all rewarding. Well, have fun exploring my website and work! I hope you enjoy it.
