Audio Mystery

My audio mystery was based around the mystery of faith. I wanted to define faith by interviewing strangers on the street and hopefully get answers that would line up well and point me in a good direction for the project. What I found, however, was completely different.
When I started interviewing, I got answers that made no sense or we're treated as jokes by the interviewees. This led me to a really different final product than I expected, and also led me to write an essay on the experience. To read my essay, click here. 'Finding Faith' Transcript

Woman: Um...well, I need time to think about that I can't just. Hm...when I think of faith do I think religion? Yes - I do. Hm. So...I don't know I'd have to think about that.

Man: Believeing. Never giving up on something. Continue doing something even though you know it's not going to work out. Just keep trying.

Man 1: I came to the realization that faith is just hard-wired into us. You know what I mean it's just like-

Man 2: It's just there.

Man 1: It's not in our genetics, because that's too concrete.

Man 2: Yes.

Man 1: It's in our spiritual-awareness-being.

Woman: Belief without evidence.

Man: I would agree with that. I can't do - improve on that. I don't think that-

Woman: That's the point, isn't it? Because if there's some evidence, you can believe a thing-

Man: It don't require faith.

Woman: It's proven to you. I think it's like that. I really think so.

Man: Faith is, like, whatever you believe in. And it doesn't have to be religious or anything, it just like, comes from inside of you.

Man: Faith to me. Faith is the unknown. Faith is believing in the unknown. Faith is not knowing where you're going. But knowing that you're going. (laughs)

Man: How would I describe faith? I guess it's believeing in something even though there was no reason to really believe in it. It because you believed in the promise of something. And that's what we are when we think about it. We think about the promise of something. You know, we say we have faith in it because it represents a possible promise of something better, of something good. My stance on faith right now, as a former veteran that's been crippled both physically and mentally is very difficult. Very difficult.

Man: Um...faith to me is, I guess, just being true to yourself, and uh...I don't know. I guess that's it. I don't know.
