Mystery Graphics

In design, we took a different route than other classes in the mystery unit. On this page are my photo and illustration for this unit. The photo was made during our study of surrealism and the illustration was based on our hopes and fears for our lives as adults. To see a run-through of how I created my illustration, click here. Surreal Photo Statement

I am interested in differences. It is incredible to me how two very similar people can take completely different stances on an issue. I find that as I get older and am reaching legal voting age I am torn between sides. For this reason I chose to shoot the same objects from two different perspectives. I hope the my viewers will get a sense of duality and also unity through this photo.

Final Project/Future Self Artist Statement

My work is about protection, and how protecting ourselves from truth in the present can change who we will become in the future. I am confident that through the degree of protection I’ve been given in life, I will be able to accept the world when I live alone in it. But still present is the fear that somehow the world will lead me or others I care about down the wrong path.

Present in both pieces are barriers between the top and bottom sections. These barriers break the piece up visually and represent the shelter, protection, and separation we are given from our surroundings. The top side of both pieces holds the aggressive outside world while the bottom side holds the safety that many of us take for granted.

I hope my viewers can remember what and who they are protected by when the see my work.
