Narrative Unit

A fundamental aspect of art is often the telling of story, whether it is through a musical composition or a painting of a deer in a meadow. An artist's ability to tell a narrative through a variety of Medias allows them to explore which art form best suits it best. This unit allowed students to test their skills of storytelling in multiple mediums, from photography to illustration. This website allows you, the viewer, to see how well the tales are told. Feel free to adventure through this site and investigate my attempts at the wonderful art of storytelling.

Movies are one of my most treasured collections. I'm often amazed at a production crew's ability to manifest a story from nothing. Where do you start? For some, it's a strange idea that popped out of no where, while for others it's a new stab at telling a well known fairy-tale. The narrative unit allowed me to explore all theses starts and travel through to find their ends. Some stories had instantaneous ideas that bloomed into blossoming tales, yet some others took time and patience to truly allow them to grow out and find their path. Storytelling is a way to bring your audience in and deliver fantastic pieces of art that leave them with new insight into their world. One of the values of stories involves creating an overarching message. A challenge in creating story influenced art comes not only with trying to find this message, but portray it through meaningful symbolism that is understandable to the audience. Hours were spent on the pieces shown on this site, and I hope you, my audience, enjoy each one.
