*My piece shows a girl who is reading a map, but becomes frustrated when she still doesn't know where to go. After tearing her map in half, she puts her hand over her heart and pulls out a compass. This symbolizes how we determine our own paths and no one can tell us otherwise. My sister has always been a role model for me, but I feel as if I am always being compared to her even though we are completely different. I am being pushed down a different path than I want to take. Similar to the girl in my photo narrative, I have the power to decide where I want to go. Taking these photos in the mountains created a very wide open feeling and a sense of being lost. I made all six photos very simple and the background dark so that the focus was on the girl's actions and emotions. I have realized that no one can tell me what path to take or what to do with my life. Instead I myself can determine where I want to go.
