Kavita and Me in front of a firetruck

~Research Paper~

We all know that firefighters don’t save kittens from tall trees all day. They respond to a large variety of calls; they are on the scene at fires, medical emergencies, traffic accidents, hazardous material spills and more. Our topic of research digs beneath the side of fire fighting we hear about on our television sets or what we catch a glimpse of while rubbernecking at a highway accident scene. There is a whole other side to being a firefighter that many people don’t know about unless they share a close relationship with a firefighter. Through the experiences they have in common, the firefighters share a bond with each other that you won’t find at any workplace. For a firefighter, the crew is a second family and the station is a second home.

~Audio Documentary~

In our audio doctumentary we go through the life of a fire fighter by topic. There are excepts from out interviews with the fire fighters. If you listen really carefully you can hear some firefighters in th background, and in one part you can even hear a call come in via the loud speaker. Just so you know, each fire engine, or ambulance within a firestation has a different bell, so they can distinguish when they are or aren't needed.

If we had time we would have made it longer, but we didnt't, but just to let you know I spent a day at the firestation taking photos and stuff. It was a great experience that anyone can do, just contact your local fire department, and ask fro infomation on being a ride-a-long for a day.

~Photo Project~

This was probably my favorite part of this project. We went to various Palo Alto Fire Departments to take photos, the fire fighters are a lot of fun, esspecially Toby.
