The IDEA
I knew from the start I wanted to make some kind of sculpture, and I decided rather quickly on clay. I eventually also chose to use Polymer Clay, due to the convenience of baking and that it wouldn’t dry while I was working on it.
Mostly, I looked at other images of busts to try and decide how I should design my bust, along with looking at videos of how to make armatures to make a proper base to my sculpture.
The main skill I practiced in class was being independent in my art and creation, since I mainly worked on it on my own. Although Ms. Parkinson gave me a great amount of useful information, all the shaping and baking was done on my own.
I will definitely plan more about projects at the beginning, in the future. And I will also continue to work rather independently, since it has proven to be rather efficient. I feel that I accomplished the goals for this project rather well, and succeeded in everything that I set out to do. However, for the idea of the project itself, I could have been a bit more ambitious. Although it could have been more, I am satisfied with what I already have. If I could start this project all over again, then I would most likely set out a few more goals for myself. There was definitely some spare time I had to do more within this project, but I simply was not the best at making use of it due to inefficient and uncertain planning. I feel that my presentation went really well. Most people seemed to enjoy it, and I feel the humorous nature of it went over well with the audience. I feel it also worked to help gauge the audience’s sense of humor for my standup act.
I would like whoever is reading this to be aware of the great value that diligent planning and time management has on every project. If time and goals are managed well enough, then one can fit far more into their project than they could otherwise.
