My name is Elayna Parkhurst. I am a student at Freestyle Academy of Communication Arts and Technology where I have been able to study english, design, digital media, and film. My plans for the future include attending college where I hope to continue studying film and pursue a career in documentary film. Being at Freestyle has given me the opportunity to explore my creative side and develop skills in a welcoming environment. I have been able to draw on my life-long passion for wildlife conservation to help inspire me when writing a spoken word poem, and a documentary book and film. I value the unique opportunity Freestyle offers to students to escape the normal high school atmosphere. The ability to do project-based learning with professional equipment has helped me develop a passion for filmmaking. The community at Freestyle has encouraged collaboration at every step. The entire experience has taught me valuable lessons that I am careful to not take for granted.
