Zenith

The Zenith project is the last big project we get to do during our time at Freestyle Academy. It is meant to represent the culmination of all of the skills we have learned while at Freestyle. This is why it is called Zenith because it is the peak of our work at Freestyle, like the zenith is the time something is most powerful or successful. We all get the freedom to design our Zeniths however we want, so that we get to work on a project that we are passionate about. This means we get to make a project proposal, a calendar for deadlines, and a rubric to grade our project with. For my Zenith I am going to turn two lyrical essays into two videos. Both of the lyrical essays, and subsequent videos, explore the topic of race through the lens of one specific person. This is a project I have been wanting to explore most of my senior year and the subjects of the videos are friends of mine which makes the project more meaningful for me. I am going to challenge myself by taking more care about the composition of every shot and by incorporating new editing techniques and transitions I have never tried before. The skills I learned in my english class about how to write a lyrical essay will obviously be a huge part of the pre production process. Everything I have learned in film class from choosing the type of shot, to working the camera, to coordinating actors and locations, to editing it all together in the most compelling way will be incorporated into this project as well.
