Narrative Visual Perspective in Digital Media

Introduction

In Digital Media, our Narrative Unit project was the multi-layered art. There were three choices; light-box, wood block, or wood ring. My partner (Syd Tomasello) and I chose to do the light-box. Our light-box is a recreation of the hotel from Wes Anderson’s 2014 movie The Grand Budapest Hotel.

Music Production

In the beginning of the semester, we were tasked with creating music. Specifically, music for our films. The goal was to learn how to make music in case we couldn’t find royalty free music we liked. Fortunately, we did. I’m no musician

We also added on to our websites. Notice how when you go to my website, it redirects you a photo of a motorcycle? That was coded using Adobe Dreamweaver. This was the first time I’ve coded something, and actually enjoyed doing it. It was difficult, and especially frustrating when you spent hours coding only to find it doesn’t work. But when it did work…I could cry, I think I did cry.

Multi-Layered Art Production

The drawing for our light-box was drawn in Adobe Illustrator.

Reflection

This unit had highs and lows. I enjoyed coding, but the light-box was difficult. I don’t know Illustrator very well, and it was embarrassing having to ask help for seemingly simple things. I understand that I didn’t know a lot because of a lack of experience, but it’s frustrating when you are the ONLY one who doesn’t know how to do it.
