Introduction + Reflection

This semester, the largest project I have accomplished was a commitment to answering, “How do you creatively and truthfully portray a significant person, group, place, idea, or issue in the community?” Along with this initial question, I created a magazine which resulted in a profile project about my fathers military service in Israel. Then, I was given the task to complete 3 interviews, 1 of which was dedicated to a main subject and a follow up, and another secondary interviewee to support the commencing subject and turn it into a paper. The paper would include a research aspect which I related from my fathers service to working in High Tech. Overall, the project was a milestone. Because it was all conducted from my own home under Shelter in Place restrictions, I decided to change my topic from Drag Queens to my father which was a considerable change, it also took a toll at management skills. However, it taught me the significance of taking advantage of limitations by working deftly with abrupt changes during abnormal circumstances, which is extremely detrimental in navigating a possible design career.

Design Production

In my elective class, Design, my classmates and I curated our own magazine. We used our research papers to fill in the text of the magazine, and generated our own Graphic Design Elements, magazine layouts, and photos for the completed result. The applications I used for my magazine included, InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe Photoshop. Photos from my fathers service in Israel were joined with up to date photos of my father, Erez Schwarz, in his workplace within my magazine. My vision was to discuss how his service transformed his whole entire outlook on life, and how his integrity never seems to shift throughout his whole story.
