Narrative Home

In our Narrative unit we began by writing short stories or flash fiction stories. The object was to write a story in less than 500 words. The story had to be interesting and carry a plot line. We spent a lot of time writing and editing them. You can find my end product under the Story button at the top of this page.

We then took our story from English to Design and Web/Audio. In design class we took the story and made it into a graphic novel. After we took the climax event in our story and turned it into a page in a graphic novel. We first drew it and then mapped it out, then we took to Illustrator and drew it online. You can see that process if you click on the Illustration button.

In Web/Audio we took our entire story, along with the graphic novel and turned it into a short animation. We learned how to use Adobe Flash and Illustrator in the process. You can check out my process for the animatic, which is like an outline for the animation if you click on the animatic button. My actual animation and the Flash process can be found if you click on my Animation button.

Through the entire process I learned how hard it is to take a story from the beginning thoughts inside my head into the actual animated story you see in the end. It was especially hard because we were not allowed to use any dialogue. I definitely have a better respect for people who draw animations for a living. Every little pieces has to be drawn and animated which takes quite a while. It is even harder to express your original ideas through it all, making people understand your vision is thrilling but nerve racking. Please enjoy it all!
