About Me

Welcome To My Site!!!

I’m Hannah Hershfeldt, in 2018 -2020 I was a student at Freestyle Academy. For a long time now I centered my goals for the future around art and literacy. I write poetry and hope to work as a film producer one day. Freestyle gave me an outlet to be creative, and even greater than that, it provides me an opportunity to work with other amazingly creative students. This program challenged me to branch out and create more, as presented in this site. I valued Freestyle and all the many challenges it gave me. This program shaped my perspective and forced me to step out of my comfort zone. I want to work in the business of film, yet I am an artistic person. I appreciate this program for exposing me to the different sides of film.

Outside of Freestyle I ran cross country, hung out with friends, and explored. I have a fascination with culture so a lot of my work will be revolved around both American society and the society of other places in the world. So I hope to study cultural anthropology as well as film. I hope to travel one day because I want to devote my life to people and the study of people.  The top places I would hope to go one day are Mexico, Chile, Germany, Brazil, Peru, Norway, and Italy. I also love music. My favorite artists are David Bowie, Elton John, Jackson Browne, Janis Joplin, and Bob Marley. Some of my film-related icons are Tim Burton and Ryan Murphy.

A Note Before Graduating: What I learned at Freestyle

Since middle school, I have wanted to work in the film industry. That’s what I would say anytime someone would ask, yet I never made a film. I said that because I love movies. Being a part of Freestyle allowed me to put my money where my mouth is, and learn the skills necessary to do what I want to do. I gained this new understanding with out even realizing, and I feel a part of the world I loved so much. I learned that I want to be a producer. I learned how to collaborate with my peers, to pitch, to write scripts, operate a camera, direct actors, communicate with people respectfully, edit, sound design, and so much more. When people ask why I want to go into film, my answer is the same, I love movies. But now when I say that, I mean it as a producer and not as a consumer. I will be going to DePaul University, majoring in Film and Television with a concentration in Creative Producing, and I thank my time at Freestyle for that.
