Introduction
Our latest project in English was our Podcast unit! We were to write and record a professional podcast, as well as design a logo for it. We could work in pairs or alone, and the topic could be anything of our choosing. Mostly, we were just expected to experiment and have fun with this assignment, because like the humor unit, podcasting is a medium we haven’t had much experience in.
The Process
I paired up with my friend Emory, and we decided our goal was to make something breezy, fun and humorous. We quickly came up with the idea of researching and discussing conspiracy theories, as they can be very ridiculous and leave a lot to talk about. We decided to just script out our intro and conclusion, because we wanted it to feel like a casual conversation, almost as though we were inviting the listener into our talk, rather than alienating them by having it be too serious. Of course, there is a lot of merit in having serious discussions about serious topics, but that wasn’t the aim of our particular podcast. Below, you can see our short script:
