conceptual

Intro to Conceptual:
For the Conceptual Project, we develop our abstract thinking and communication skills to answer the question,

“How can I use unconventional forms to express myself?”

This project allowed for us to convey their opinions and concept statement feelings through creative, unorthodox methods.  Within the poetry, music, art, animations, experimental film and web production that we have worked on this quarter, we have expressed ourselves unconventionally using our new mastery of skills in using the variety of modern and professional equipment and applications provided by Freestyle.  The films, poem videos, photography, and poem recordings & album art are all made using Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Premiere Pro.

In this conceptual unit, I have valued being challenged with thinking about how to evoke certain feelings through our works and the choices that I have to make in order to be successful in accomplishing what I want my audience to feel.  The projects that we have been working on for the past few months have definitely pushed me out of my comfort zone and I am so grateful that I was able to gain more knowledge in the process of this more abstract form of art.  I like that for this unit, a lot of our work didn’t have to make as much sense because it isn’t about what you physically see but what you can get out of its deeper meaning.  If not for Freestyle, I don’t think I would have ever experimented with this kind of film, poetry, and photography, and I wouldn’t have learned and grown from this experience.
