Forced to Choose

In my illustration, the dove is flying high and confident but is being consumed by the harsh flames. The dove represents a girl from a story I wrote this year, she is a peace loving hippie who does not enjoy confrontation and likes to stay within her circle of friends, which I can understand. She enjoys going to rallies and feels there is no need for violence. The fiery flames represent a man who hates people like this dove; the kind that think everything is always going to okay and would never hurt a fly. He feels like everything can’t be solved with peace and violence is always needed. Because these two have lived such different lives and share opposing beliefs, when they are forced to meet, new things can happen.
In my drawing, the dove is forced to take action. She must let the fire bring her down or go against what she believes in and fight to hold what she thinks is true. This shows a turning point for the dove because never in her life has a person caused her to turn to action and now she must live with it forever.
