To conclude our Junior year at freestyle, we were challenged with creating a product that addresses on of the 21st century skills.

For my project, I initially wanted to grow a tomato plant and document each stage of growth but given the short time period to complete the project I had to come up with something more flexible to the time requirements. I decided to instead of grow and document each stage I would illustrate each of the six stages in Adobe Illustrator.

In our digital media classes we were tasked with creating experimental music. Using Pro Tools we were able to play instruments digitally. We could play the drums, guitar, harp, flute, and practically every other instrument using just a keyboard.

Design

In my design class was where I worked on my explorations presentation about the plant growth stages.

Music

For my song I wanted it to be very experimental and full of different sounds and instruments. For this music I as very inspired by lot of EDM music and some house music. I wanted to create a song that could be played by a DJ. The beginning of the song has a slower beat that is made with the synth bass and then it quickly goes into the main beat of the song. I am most proud of the fact that I was able to create the song from the ground up. I started with a blank Pro Tools interface and ended with a whole song. I am also proud of my use of all the unique sounds and all the different instruments.

My experimental music

One thing that I value after learning how to use all of the virtual instruments for my music production was the keyboards ability to create thousands of different sounds and the fact that I could play virtually any instrument on an electric keyboard.
