one, maybe two

introduction:

the music video project was a collaboration between film students and web/audio students. we were sorted into “bands”, for which we devised names, album titles, and eventually t shirts and concert posters.

my band (one, maybe two) was composed of myself (web/audio), thuy-tien le (film), patrick ogaz (web/audio), and nastia garachtchenko (web/audio).

this project was a wonderful opportunity to practice skills with programs such as reason, pro tools, and photoshop. i’d never participated in making a full song before, and it’s been a learning experience the whole way through. i’m more familiar with photoshop, however, so the creation of the concert poster and t shirt were relatively easy and incredibly fun.

each page on this site has a different facet of the unit in it; the music page is the video itself as well as the song’s lyrics, the art page is the t shirt design and concert poster, and the photogallery shows the process of making these.

below, you can see a couple of the workspaces from the process of making these various products. click on each to see a larger version.

at bae

dew drops of time, splatter the concrete
laughter and smiles, playing like music
the beauty of life stays hidden inside my mind
a new kind of sight, a vision that's therapeutic

time moves slowly
but passes by quickly
and i’m trapped in my mind
pretending it's all fine

young lovers bloom, dancing through the night
young birds stay home, too afraid of flight
a doorway of light, a possibility
a sunken ship flashing red lights, a single casualty

images flash on the daunting screen
a new kind of lie, where the truths are obscene
timelines collide, forming uncrossable lines
a new set of rules, making a set of new crimes

time moves slowly
but passes by quickly
and i’m trapped in my mind

art:

for design, we all created designs for a t shirt and concert poster based on our band. although i've never done quite the same thing before, both were fairly simple to put together in photoshop and illustrator. this was by far my favorite part of the unit. i love designing things, and the project really inspired me. the assignment also involved linking the two designs through colors and other such elements, and i think i was really able to show that they were a pair without being redundant.

below, you can see my t shirt and concert poster, as well as those of my fellow band members.
