The above is background music, if you would like to listen to it.

The documentary unit was probably the most demanding this year. It involved conducting interviews, writing a research paper, designing a 30-page book around the paper, and more, which you can see for yourself by browsing through the tabs above.

As with all other projects, the documentary unit began in English. After contacting our chosen institution, group, company, etc. we began by doing preliminary research on a topic central to that place. That informed the interviews, which then fleshed out the paper. By the end, we each had a paper including a foreword, introduction, three chapters, a conclusion.

In Design, we used the program InDesign to build and design the book. We used various techniques to incorporate photographs of the location and turn the paper from words into a real book.

In Web/Audio, we created websites to display the products of the unit, including the audio slideshow created in class.

In the pages here, you will see the original research paper, a digital form of the book, and the audio slideshow of the book.

Through this unit, I can now claim some proficiency in InDesign and Pro Tools, which are both great programs, and look forward to being able to use them at will in the future.
