The Orange Peels

We were supposed to uncover and tell an untold story. To do this, we read Freakonomics to inspire us. We all were asked to choose an issue that not many people knew about. I chose to cover The Orange Peels and specifically how the music industry has changed. Then we needed to research atleast ten sources on our topic, interview three people, and transcribe the interviews for English.

I was assigned to find a book that was relevant to my topic and found The World in Six Songs by Daniel Levitin. The World in Six Songs is mainly about how humans have always had music ingrained in their genes. To prove this, he used a ton of analysis on songs to create six categories and all their effects on us. I also needed to integrate material from The World in Six Songs and all my research on the Orange Peels. It was very had at first because Daniel Levitin's been is very conceptual. It was hard to tune exactly which parts to say because he connected one concept over plenty of subjects--to read this book was exhausting in the beginning. It made me listen to music alot more than I had time for. I was actually overwhelmed by the content in the book that I needed to sit down and think for awhile about it for my dialectal assignment. We needed to analyze the quote, raise questions, and comment on the diction.

For WebAudio, we needed to record our interview transcript and create a transcript that condensed our whole essay to a 3-5 minute recording. We were required to put a ring noise on our buttons by using Reason. Reason contains thousands of instrument noises.

In Design we were required to take ninety photos at our location. We had to use thirty edited photos. It was hard to brighten up my photos since the studio was very dark. I was extremely fortunate to be able to photograph the whole band practicing and composing their new album.
