Conceptual

INTRO

The conceptual project allowed me to learn and develop technological skills through risk taking. I created a haiku and a video that supplements it, an experimental film, learned about the value of art in our society, and developed my personal website. I also learned how to use tools such as the Tascam audio recorder, my DSLR camera, as well as applications such as Adobe Premier Pro, Adobe Audition, and WordPress. I’m very thankful for the opportunities I had throughout this project. I was able to look at english through the lense of an artist, film through an experimental/atypical view, and I got to express my personal aesthetic and style through my haiku video as well as my website.

HAIKU

We produced our haiku videos using Adobe Premier Pro, with our voice-overs recorded/edited on Adobe Audition.

Behind the scene: Haiku Video Production

I valued the creative freedom I was given throughout the haiku project. I’ve never really written poetry in the past but this project inspired me to keep writing creatively.

Why Art?

In English, we read and analyzed multiple op-ed articles describing the value of art. Alongside these articles, we chose an artist to study. We produced an essay illustrating our understanding of the significance of art as well as evidence found through the lives and legacy of our chosen artist.

You can also listen to my Why Art essay with the audio below:

To further explore our chosen artist as well as article, we were tasked with creating a presentation. The presentation showcased artwork, described the meaning behind it, and ultimately connected it all to our chosen article. In other words, the presentation was an oral summary of our essays.

I learned how to properly research topics, as well as properly cite those sources. I gained a much deeper understanding of the value of art as well as the different motivations behind art. Through understanding how to analyze art, I became much more confident in my overall analysis skills.

Photoshop Blend mode Editing

In my digital media class, I learned how to edit photos using blend modes. This could mean layering photos on top of each other, editing the lighting of the photo etc. This is a useful skill because blend modes are extremely affective at altering and putting together photos.

  1. I value how much creative power I now have. Using the knowledge i’ve gained from this project I could seriously create some really cool things.
  2. I already made a little project for my friend. I see myself creating green screen backgrounds for my films and even creating fun edits for family pictures.

Film

For our conceptual unit, we created 4 projects. Our scavenger hunt, in which we learned how to film specific shots such as dolly and dutch tilt. Our second was a green screen project where we learned how to set up lighting and how to utilize the key effect in premier pro. Thirdly, our DoubleMint project where we learned how to create a scene in which the same character was doubled on a screen and doing different actions at the same time. Finally, using all the skills we learned in our previous projects, we created an experimental film based on the conceptual statements we were given in our English class.

Here is the synopsis for my experimental film:

We went through 2 rounds of showing and receiving criticism for our raw footage. After this was over, we were tasked with putting together our final cut on Premier Pro. Below is a screenshot of the process.

Finally, here are my previous 3 projects.
