INTRODUCTION
For my Junior Documentary Project, I gathered primary and secondary research sources to develop a distinct perspective about my subject’s significance in the community and/or world.This unit emphasized narrative-style journalism. I wrote a research paper about Nader Bahu, a disabled film maker. I continued with this theme by creating a documentary about Nader and other disabled creatives in the film industry.
I’m genuinely grateful for the lessons I gained from this unit, as it broadened my perspective to numerous stories I had never connected with before. I honed my skills in preparation and professional communication with interviewees, which differed from working on narrative or other projects where I might just collaborate with friends. Instead, we had to engage with various individuals, including reaching out via social media and contacting managers and PR teams.
